Adzhyka sauce (Chernihiv recipe)

Adjika is a homemade variant of tomato, bell pepper, and chili pepper sauce with sour sweet taste.

Ingredients:

  • 3 kg mature tomatoes
  • 500 g bell peppers
  • 500 g bulb onions
  • 500 g apples
  • 500 g carrots
  • 100 g sugar
  • 5-6 chili pepper pods
  • 0.5 l (liter) sunflower oil
  • salt – to taste

Cooking

Wash the vegetables. Peel bulb onions, apples and carrots. Cut the vegetables into pieces and mince them. Add oil, sugar and salt. Mix the ingredients properly. Boil them for 2 hours over medium heat. Pour adjika sauce in jars. Seal the lids of the glass jars. Turn the jars over and cool.
