Almond Cookies ‘Moon’

Today we will bake thematic New Year cookies ‘Moons.’ Firstly these cookies have a festive look and secondly they have a delicious nut filling. All your family will absolutely love them.

They cookies are very buttery with a pronounced almond flavor and tini of orange liqueur. Matched with a cup of hot herbal tea they will become a perfect addition to your dessert table. These cookies are definitely worth trying.

Ingredients:

  • a pinch of salt
  • 200 g (7 oz) flour
  • 3 tbsp warm water
  • 200 g (7 oz) almond
  • 100 g (3,5 oz) sugar
  • 1 tbsp orange liqueur
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 130 g (4,5 oz) dairy butter
  • powdered sugar (for topping)

Cooking

Combine flour, salt, water, and 100 g (3,5 oz) of melted dairy butter. Mix everything carefully and set aside the dough for a while (at a room temperature).

Chop almonds finely. Add sugar, cinnamon, orange liqueur, and 30 g (1 oz) of melted dairy butter. Stir the ingredients thoroughly. Make little sausages from the prepared mass.

Roll the dough. Divide into equal little pieces. Place the filling above each piece of the dough. Roll the dough and shape in the form of a moon. Repeat the procedure until you use all the ingredients.

Arrange the cookies above the baking sheet and bake them for 15 minutes at 150°C (302°F). Top the cookies with powdered sugar before serving.
