Historically the main ingredients of charlotte were white bread, custard, apples, and liquor. Theoretically we can use any fruits of berries. However, practically the tastiest charlotte is the one with apples and whisked eggs. Cook this apple pie with cinnamon and see for yourself.
- 4 eggs
- 1 glass of sugar
- 1 glass of flour
- 1/2 tsp leaven
- 200 g sour cream (any fat content)
- 2 tbsp sugar / powdered sugar
- 3 apples
- 2 tbsp ground rusks
- cinnamon – to taste
- cocoa powder
Whisk eggs with sugar for 10 minutes. Combine flour with leaven and sift the mixture. Then whip the mass.
Peel apples and slice them. Grease a baking sheet with butter. Dredge it with ground rusks and cinnamon. Add the apples and dough. Bake the charlotte at 170°C. Do not open the oven 20 minutes after the end of baking. Check whether the pie is dry or not with a help of a toothpick.
Combine sour cream with powdered sugar. Mix the ingredients thoroughly.
Place the cooked pie on a platter and cool it. Grease the charlotte with the prepared cream and top it with cocoa powder.
