Chocolate cake with a pastry cream


This chocolate custard cake will amaze you both with its look and taste. Decorated in an unusual way, it looks eye-popping. Eating the cake is a real obsession. Its tender texture just melts in the mouth. Only imagine - tender biscuit with a chocolate pastry cream topped with melted chocolate and decorated with chocolate sweets. This cake is the dream of any chocoholic!

Ingredients:

Batter

  • 2 eggs
  • 1,5 tsp soda
  • 280 ml milk
  • 250 g (1/2 lb) flour
  • 60 ml vegetable oil
  • 300 g (10,5 oz) sugar
  • 60 g (2 oz) dairy butter
  • 60 g (2 oz) cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp wine vinegar (6%)

Chocolate pastry cream

  • 2 yolks
  • 30 g (1 oz) flour
  • 100 g (3,5 oz) sugar
  • 3 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 100 g (3,5 oz) dairy butter

Topping

  • 30 ml cream
  • 1 bar of chocolate
  • Chocolate nuts and KitKat
  • Oreo cookies and wafer straws

Cooking

Combine cocoa powder, sugar, flour, and soda in one bowl. Stir everything carefully. Add eggs, vegetable oil, and melted dairy butter (all the ingredients should have room temperature). Mix the mass until smooth. Then add wine vinegar and room temperature milk. Whip the mass for 4-5 minutes. Cover a baking pan (20 cm in diameter) with baking paper and transfer the batter there. The batter should fill half of the pan.

Bake in an oven for 45-50 minutes at 175°C (347°F). Check whether the crust is already baked or not with the help of a toothpick.

Combine yolks with sugar. Then add starch and cocoa powder. Stir to combine. Then pour milk gradually. Cook the mass in bain marie until it thickens.

Transfer the cake to a serving plate.

Take dairy butter of a room temperature and beat it until fluffy. Stir in the cream gradually (divide it into three parts and stir in each part one by one, mixing the mass continuously). Place the cream for 30 minutes in a fridge to let it set.

Cut the crust in half. Grease one layer with the prepared pastry cream. Put the second layer of the crust above and grease it with the pastry cream. Put the cake in a fridge for 1 hour.

Melt chocolate and cover the cake with it. Set the cake aside for half an hour.

Decorate our chocolate custard cake with Oreo cookies, KitKat chocolate, chocolate nuts, and wafer straws.
