Browned potatoes and red onion

 

This recipe for fried potatoes served with red onion is a great and appetizing alternative to traditional fried whole potatoes.

This dish is very simple and easy to cook. Potatoes, red onion, salt and pepper, and oil – are the key ingredients you’ll need to make this second course. However, the result will amaze you. You’ll get golden and crunchy potatoes with a fluffy and tender interior. Served together with a red onion, they become even more piquant and flavorful.

These potatoes go great with pork chops, grilled steak or fried fish, any kind of meat you like. You can serve this dish for dinner your relatives and friends. Being nourishing and cozy, these potatoes can feed a crowd without breaking the bank.

Ingredients:

  • 1 red onion bulb
  • 6 medium potatoes
  • a mint twig (for decoration)
  • vegetable oil (for browning)
  • black ground pepper – to taste
  • salt – to taste

Cooking

Wash potatoes under running water thoroughly. Pour water in a pan and bring it to boil. Adjust salt and black ground pepper to your taste. Dip the prepared potatoes into the water. Bring the water to boil one more time. Then reduce the fire and cover the pan with a lid. Boil the potatoes until done,  about 20-30 minutes.

Transfer the potatoes to a plate and let them cool. Peel the potatoes. Preheat vegetable oil in a frying pan and add the potatoes. Brown them until golden.

Put the potatoes on a serving plate. Peel and wash a red onion. Cut the onion into circles and add them to the plate. Decorate the dish with a mint twig and serve the dish.
