Marble Cake With Caramel Topping

If you like to cook tarts and pies, then read the recipe of this delicious marble cake and serve your family a tasty teatime treat. The cake consists of caramel batter and flavorful batter with ginger and cardamom. It contains a chocolate filling and caramelized filling.

Ingredients:

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp soda
  • 2 tsp leaven
  • 150 g (5 oz) sugar
  • 250 ml quark whey
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 100 g (3,5 oz) chocolate
  • 350 g (12 oz) wheat flour
  • 150 g (1/2 lb) dairy butter
  • seeds of 6 cardamom pods

Caramel

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 200 ml caramelized milk

Cooking

Sift flour. Add sugar, soda and leaven. Stir the mass carefully. Add warmed dairy butter and mix until well combined. Add eggs gradually, one by one. Then pour the warm quark whey. Mix the ingredients until smooth and divide the batter into two parts (one part should be bigger than the other one). Combine the bigger part of the batter with crushed seeds of cardamom pods and ginger.

Let’s cook a caramel. Preheat caramelized milk and dissolve vanilla there. Combine the caramel with the reserved batter.

Grease a round baking pan with dairy butter. Pour the prepared batter in the center of the pan by turn. Swirl the light and the dark batter in order to get marble ornaments. Dip finely cut chocolate in the batter. Bake the cake at 175°C (347°F) until an inserted wooden toothpick comes out clean, 70 minutes. Transfer the cooked cake to a platter, cool it, pour with the prepared caramel, cut into portions and serve.
