Mead

This ancient honey drink is made by fermenting honey and water. The recipe is basic and won’t be difficult even for a beginning brewer. If you have ever wanted to start to brew, this is something easy and fast to try, just don’t hesitate.

The mead you make with this recipe will reflect the quality of the honey you use, so it is better to buy first-rate honey. This mead also has a delicious flavor of a forest thanks to some secret ingredient – hop cones.

Ingredients:

  • 200 ml honey
  • 1 l (liter) of water
  • 100 g (3,5 oz) hop cones
  • 100 g (3,5 oz) wheat rusks

Cooking

Pour water in a pan and bring it to boil. Let the water cool a little, to 40-45°C (104-113°F). Pour 1/4 of water to a bowl and dissolve the honey there. Pour another 1/4 water to the second bowl and soak wheat rusks there. Mix until you get the mass of thick consistency. Combine all the ingredients in a pan. Put the pan in some warm place. Cover the pan with a warm napkin. Leave the pan for 3-4 weeks.

Then filter the drink and pour it into bottles. Do not cover the bottles very tightly because the process of fermentation continues for about 2-3 weeks more.

Enjoy your meal!
