Today we cook a bright, colourful, and funny salad which will definitely appreciate your children. You can engage your kids to help you with cooking. In that case some new interesting ideas may appear while making this potato, carrot, egg, cheese, and champignon salad.
- 3 potatoes
- 1 tbsp salt
- 320 g (0,71 lb) mayonnaise
- 100 ml refined sunflower oil
- a bunch of spring onions
- 2 bulb onions
- 2 carrots
- 250 g (0,55 lb) hard cheese
- 4 eggs
- 300 g (0,66 lb) champignons
- 340 g (0,75 lb) pork tongue
- 2 pinches of ground black pepper
- 2 tomatoes
- 2 caperberries
- 1/4 of fresh parsley bunch
- 80 g black olives without stones
Wash champignons and cut the mushrooms into medium pieces. Peel bulb onions and chop them. Heat refined sunflower oil in a frying pan slightly and add the prepared ingredients. Salt everything, then stir and fry. Boil pork tongue. Next cool, peel and dice it. After boil potatoes. Peel and grate them.
Let’s cook the components for our “meadow”. Cut black olives into circles. You should cut each olive into 4 circles. Slice 4 olives. Then cut a thin slice of cheese and cut out the circles. They should correspond to the olive size. You should also cut out 8 cheese wings. Next we make the “heads” of the bees. Cut one olive along into two parts and then each part along one more time (you should get 4 parts of each olive).
Now we prepare “ladybirds”. Bisect a tomato and cut out a triangle from one side. Repeat the procedure with two slices of tomatoes. Cut the black olives and make the “heads” and the “specks”.
The next stage is the preparing of the “flowers’” components. Take a boiled egg and notch out the denticular “flowers”, place the caperberries or peas in the center of each “flower”. Take two black olives and notch out the denticular “flowers” as well. Put the pieces of cheese in the center. Cut a boiled and peeled carrot into circles (leave one carrot for the salad) and form the “flowers” placing the piece of white of the egg in a center.
Let’s form the salad. Place the grated potato on a platter and grease it with mayonnaise slightly (you should grease each layer with mayonnaise). Add salt and pepper. Next put the fried champignons and onion. After place the shredded carrot. Then put the prepared pork tongue combined with salt and pepper. The next layer is grated cheese and whites of the egg. The grated yolks form the upper layer.
Grease the salad edges with mayonnaise and top them with chopped spring onions. Let the salad soak a little and then decorate it with the prepared “bees”, “ladybirds” and “flowers”. Make the “eyes” of the “insects” by the help of a toothpick and mayonnaise.
