Shrimps in a tomato sauce

13_Garide-SaganakiIf you like seafood, then you will definitely evaluate the recipe of flavorful sautéed prawns under tomato sauce. This healthy and yummy dish is a good solution for a light supper. The shrimps may be also served as a side dish. The recipe is easy and the most important thing is that you don’t need much time to cook.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 bulb onion
  • 1 chili pepper
  • 1 tbsp dairy butter
  • 2 tbsp chopped celery
  • 500 g (1,1 lb) prawns
  • 1/2 glass tomato sauce
  • 1 glass chicken broth
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley
  • 425 g (15 oz) pickled tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • salt – to taste
  • black ground pepper – to taste

Cooking

Peel an onion and dice it. Peel a chili pepper, remove the seeds and chop the vegetable. Melt dairy butter in a pan. Place the onion, pepper and celery there. Stew the ingredients until softened, for 3 minutes.

Add flour, sliced tomatoes, tomato sauce, chicken broth, parsley, sugar, salt and black ground pepper. Stir everything properly. Do not cover the pan and simmer the mass over high heat for 5 minutes.

Clean shrimps and wash them. Add the prawns and mix well to coat them. Stir-fry the dish over medium heat for 8-15 minutes more.
