Varenukha

Ingredients:

  • 1 l (liter) of vodka
  • 40 g of dried apples
  • 40 g of cherries
  • 25 g of pears
  • 25 g of plums
  • 1 g of ginger
  • 1 g of cinnamon
  • 1 g of cloves
  • 0.5 g of allspice
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 250 g of honey

Varenukha was a favorite Ukrainian drink in the ancient times. Now we offer you the recipe of this delicious drink.

Wash apples, cherries, pears and plums. Place them in separate jars and pour vodka above. Cover the jars and draw the mixtures for 5-6 hours. Then pour everything in one enameled or ceramic bowl. Add honey, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, allspice, and bay leaf. Mix everything and cover. Stick with dough, put under little press and place in an oven at 90-100°C for 10-12 hours. Then filter the drink. You can serve varenukha hot or cold – whatever you like.
