Cutlets in Ukrainian cuisine – Gombovzi


  • 1 kg potato
  • 300 g wheat flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 30 g sugar
  • 200 g jam
  • 100 g breadcrumbs
  • 100 g dairy butter
  • salt – to taste


Peel potato and boil it in salty water. Then mince it. Add flour, eggs, and sugar. Mix the ingredients properly. Roll the cooked mass into the layer with 2 cm depth. Cut out the rounds. Place plum jam in the centre of each round. Shape the balls. Boil gombovzi in salty water. Then coat gombovzu with breadcrumbs, place them on a deep frying pan and fry slightly on dairy butter.
