Tomatoes with parched salo

pomidory_s_salomSalo is one of the most popular products in Ukraine. That is why so many dishes have it among the main ingredients. Today we share with you the recipe for a delicious appetizer which is very easy to cook and can help you when the guests are coming soon and you don’t know what to serve them.


  • 700 g (1,5 lb) tomatoes
  • 250 g (8 oz) salo
  • 300 g (10 oz) brown bread
  • dairy butter (for frying)
  • salt – to taste
  • black ground pepper – to taste


Cut salo into thin slices and fry them on both sides till golden. Transfer the salo to a plate. Cut the brown bread into squares. Melt dairy butter in the frying pan and place the bread there. Cook it until crisp. Wash tomatoes and cut them into circles. Season them with salt and pepper. Fry the tomatoes slightly in a separate skillet.

Place the slices of bread on a serving plate. Add the parched salo above. Put the tomatoes on the other side of a plate.
