Chocolate cake

If you are looking for indulgence, this walnut and chocolate cake is just the option. Being heavenly tender and soft, it simply melts in the mouth.

This luscious cake is surprisingly easy to make but it tastes like you spent at least a couple of hours in the kitchen. You just melt, mix, and bake – recipe is very simple and doesn’t take much time. You’ll see the magic of transforming a chocolate, butter, egg, and flour combination into something delicious and fancy.

You should take into account that good quality chocolate is necessary for the success of this cake. Plus, the dessert is better to bake the day before serving.


  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp leaven
  • a pinch of salt
  • 130 g (4,5 oz) flour
  • 250 g (1/2 lb) sugar
  • 170 g (6 oz) dairy butter
  • 1/2 cup of peeled walnuts
  • 200 g (7 oz) dark chocolate


Break chocolate into chunks. Then melt the chocolate in a bain-marie. Add warmed dairy butter. Melt the mass until smooth stirring it continuously. Add sugar and melt it. Let the mixture cool. Add eggs one by one, each time mixing the batter until smooth. Combine flour, salt, and leaven. Sift the mixture and add it to the batter.

Chop walnuts finely and add them. Transfer the batter to the baking tray. Bake the cake in the preheated oven at 170°C (338°F) for 30 minutes. Check whether the cake is done or not with the help of a toothpick. If it comes out dry, the cake is already baked. Pay attention that this cake should be slightly moist.

Let the cake cool and put it in a fridge for 8-12 hours. Then cut the cake into squares. Serve the dessert with tea.
