Pliatsok is the sweet dessert which is widely popular in Ukraine. This cocoa cake with cheese and coconut flakes will become a winner on any festive table.
Combining white and brown dough with cheese and coconut balls, this dessert features creativeness and uniqueness.

Ingredients:
Cheese and coconut balls
- 1 yolk
- 10 tbsp coconut flakes
- 250 g (1/2 lb) cottage cheese
Dough
- 3-4 eggs
- 5 tbsp milk
- 3,5 tsp leaven
- 450 g (16 oz) flour
- 150 ml sour cream
- 250 g (1/2 lb) sugar
- 3 tbsp cocoa powder
- 100 g (3,5 oz) dairy butter
Sauce
- 1 tbsp flour
- 200 ml milk
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 2 tbsp dairy butter
Cooking
Pass cottage cheese through a sieve. Stir in coconut flakes and yolks. Mix the mass thoroughly. Shape balls from the prepared mixture (1,5 – 2 cm in diameter). Arrange the balls on a plate and put them in a freezer for half an hour.
Preheat dairy butter to a room temperature. Combine it with sour cream and stir until you get smooth mass. Then add eggs and sugar. Mix everything carefully. Pour in milk, stirring the mass continuously. Add flour and leaven an the end. Knead the dough and divide it into two equal halves. Add cocoa powder to the one of bowls and mix again. Leave the dough for some time to let it rise.
Grease a baking tray with dairy butter and pour the white dough there. Then pour the brown dough above. Put the cheese-coconut balls above and dip them slightly into the dough. Bake the cake at 200°C (392°F) for 40-45 minutes.
Combine flour with sugar. Pour cold milk above. Cook the mass over low heat until it thickens (stir the mass all the time). Add dairy butter at the end of boiling.
Cool the baked cake and grease it with the prepared sauce.
