Poppy seed tray-bake

The recipe of the bakery is very easy. As a result you will get a toothsome moist tray-bake. The poppy cake is also topped with raisins and pine nuts. It is an ideal variant to serve at a tea-party.


  • 3 eggs
  • 5 tbsp yeast
  • 100 ml water
  • 100 g (3,5 oz) sugar
  • 650 g (7 cups) flour
  • 100 g (3,5 oz) dairy butter
  • 100 g (3,5 oz) poppy seed
  • 25 ml vegetable oil (for greasing)
  • salt – to taste
  • raisins – to taste
  • pine nuts – to taste
  • vanillin – to taste


Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add 15 g of sugar, sifted flour and knead dough. Put the dough in a warm place for 50-60 minutes.

Combine dairy butter, sugar, eggs and vanillin. Whip the ingredients until smooth and fluffy. Add the mass to the dough and mix everything carefully. After stir in washed and grated poppy seeds. Knead the dough once again thoroughly.

Grease a baking cup with oil and dredge with flour. Transfer the dough to the cup. Top the tray-bake with raisins and pine nuts. Bake the dessert at 190-200°C (374-392°F). Check whether it is done or not using a toothpick. Cool the cake, cut into portions and serve warm.
