Cherry kysil

Kissel is one of the most popular desserts in Ukraine. We can cook this dish with various fruits or berries and today we will boil the kissel with cherries. You can serve it hot or chilled, depending what you prefer more – hot sweet drink or fruit jelly. We have for you a time-saving recipe of a healthy dessert. Are you ready to start? Ingredients:

  • 5 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp starch
  • 1 l (liter) water
  • 250 g (1/2 lb) cherry

Cooking

Pour water in a pan and bring it to boil. Add sugar, stirring constantly. Dissolve the sugar completely. Place rinsed cherries to the pan and boil the syrup for 5 minutes. Filter the kissel through a colander.

Dissolve starch in 100 ml of cold water. Bring the kissel to boil once more and slowly pour the starch into the pan while continuously stirring the mixture.

Pour the hot kissel into glasses, cool a little and refrigerate until it becomes thick enough to serve.
