Baked plaice with vegetables

Plaice is a very useful kind of fish while contains proteins with well balanced amino acid composition. Furthermore, the fillet of plaice is soft, juicy and very toothsome. The dish can be cooked quickly while it doesn’t need longtime thermal conditioning. Plaice isn’t bony that’s why it is very easy to bake it with vegetables.


  • 2 potatoes
  • 60 ml water
  • 240 g (1/2 lb) carrot
  • 460 g (1 lb) tomatoes
  • 500 g (1,1 lb) plaice fillet
  • 240 g (1/2 lb) bulb onion
  • 240 g (1/2 lb) celery root
  • 1 tbsp fresh chopped parsley
  • black ground pepper – to taste
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cumin


Wash vegetables under running water. Peel onions, carrots and potatoes. Chop them finely. Slice celery roots. Toss all the ingredients in a big pan and pour water above. Boil them over high heat until soft, for 8-10 minutes.

Rinse plaice fillet and cut into stripes. Rub the fish with salt and pepper and after put it in a baking dish covered with foil. Transfer the prepared vegetables there. Add the cut tomatoes. Season the dish with salt, pepper and cumin. Cover everything with foil and bake in an oven until cooked through.
