Ukrainian traditional Pie (Volyn’ recipe)

The pie with raisins and prunes is tasty and rather easy to cook. One of its advantages is the fact that you can bake it at any season while you can airily find the ingredients summer and winter alike.


  • 3 glasses of flour
  • 1 glass of milk
  • 35 g yeast
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 glass of dairy butter
  • salt – to taste
  • Stuffing:
  • 2 tbsp raisins
  • 1/2 glass of sugar
  • 200 g prunes


Dissolve yeast in milk. Grate eggs with sugar. Melt dairy butter in a pan. Combine the prepared ingredients and salt. Knead the dough and place it in a warm place. Wait until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl and then roll it in a thin layer. Place the dough in a baking sheet and bake it in an oven for half an hour.

Place prunes in a bowl. Pour boiling water there. Then chop the prunes and combine them with raisins and sugar. Top the pie with the prepared mass and put it in the oven for 15 minutes more.
