Anisette (ancient recipe)


  • 25-30 g of anise seeds
  • 1 liter of spirit (25-30°)
  • cloves
  • 1/4 tsp of dill seeds
  • 1/4 tsp of caraway seeds
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 orange
  • a piece of ginger
  • 2 tbsp of sugar


Peel and grate ginger. Crush cloves. Grind anise, deel, and caraway seeds. Then grate the lemon and orange rind.

Toss all the ingredients together and add spirit. Stir the mixture and pour it to a bottle.  Cover the bottle and put it in a dark cold place to let the drink draw for one week.

Combine sugar and water. Bring the mixture to boil and cook the syrup. Add the syrup to our bottle and leave it to draw for 3 weeks more.

In three weeks filter the drink through a thick piece of cheesecloth. The Ukrainian anisette is done.
