Hotpot (Cherkasy recipe)



  • 1 kg (35 oz) beef
  • 1,5 kg (52 oz) potatoes
  • 300 g (10,5 oz) bulb onion
  • 80 ml tomato sauce
  • 150 ml sour cream
  • 100 g (3,5 oz) green peas
  • 100 ml sunflower oil
  • salt – to taste
  • black ground pepper – to taste
  • dill – to taste


Wash beef and cut it into medium pieces. Beat the meat. Salt and pepper it. Fry the pieces of beef on a frying pan.

Peel and cube potato. Add salt and pepper. Fry potato. Peel and slice bulb onions. Fry till golden color. Fry the ingredients separately!

Take pots and place meat and potato there. Put the fried onion above.

Combine green peas, tomato sauce, sour cream, salt, spices, and cut dill. Mix everything properly.

Pour sauce in the pots and bake the dish for an hour.
