Stewed pike (recipe from Transcarpathia)


  • 500 g of pike
  • 50 g of bulb onion
  • 100 g of tomatoes
  • 100 g of sweet pepper
  • 100 g of sour cream
  • 50 g of lard/ 30 g of fat
  • salt – to taste
  • black ground pepper – to taste


Scale a pike and cut it into small pieces. Salt and pepper the fish.

Cut a bulb onion in the form of rings. Heat lard or fat in a pan. Fry the onion until it gets a golden color. Then add fish, finely cut tomatoes, chopped sweet peppers and sour cream. Stew the ingredients over medium heat.

Serve the pike with any fish sauce.
