Potato, Green Pea, and Celery Soup

The idea of a basic potato soup seems satisfying enough yet today we are going to diversify the traditional recipe. The flavors of chicken, green peas, and celery root blend so well with the potato. Combining several everyday ingredients we’ll get an unusual taste.

This potato soup is guaranteed to warm up your children and relatives on cold winter days. It is tasty, nourishing, and can be cooked rather quickly. So, the recipe of this soup is perfect for busy moms and dads.

Ingredients:

  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 bulb onion
  • 2 l (liter) water
  • 600 g (21 oz) potato
  • 600 g (21 oz) chicken
  • 30 g (1 oz) celery root
  • 200 g (7 oz) green peas
  • fresh parsley – to taste
  • salt – to taste

Cooking

Peel celery root and dice it. Wash chicken and cut it into medium pieces. Put the chicken in a pan and cover with water. Add a peeled bulb onion and celery root. Bring the mass to boil, scum, and cook the soup over low heat for 25-30 minutes.

Remove the bulb onion. Peel potatoes, dice them, and add to the pan. Boil the ingredients for 15 minutes until the potato becomes soft. Then add green peas and continue to boil for 5 minutes more. Add a bay leaf and salt. Mix the ingredients and cook them for 2-3 minutes.

Ladle the boiled dish into soup plates. Wash fresh parsley and add it to the plates before serving.
