Rhubarb kysil

kisel-iz-revenjaTake the recipe of an unusual and extremely healthy dessert drink for your children. The rhubarb kissel helps to sooth the digestive track and improves nutrient absorption. This dessert will satisfy thirst and enrich your body with vitamins.

Ingredients:

  • 500 g (1 1/10 lb) rhubarb stalks
  • 100 g (1/4 lb) sugar
  • 1,5 – 2 tbsp potato starch
  • 1 l (liter) of water
  • lemon juice – to taste

Cooking

Rinse, dry, peel and cut rhubarb stalks into long slices. Place them in a pan. Add water and sugar. Stir the ingredients and bring them to boil. Then reduce the heat and cook the mass over medium heat for 10-12 minutes till the rhubarb softens. Place the rhubarb on a colander and then in a blender. Blend till smooth.

Then dissolve starch in the pan with warm water and add the puree. Mix everything carefully and bring to boil again. Cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring continuously. Sprinkle with lemon juice.

Pour the kissel into dessert bowls, top it with sugar in order to prevent the skin forming. Refrigerate the dessert for 2 hours.

Serve the rhubarb kissel with sour cream and strawberries.
